    Losing my beautiful son Giancarlo to fentanyl at the young age of 20 has been excruciatingly painful, emotionally debilitating and heart-shattering beyond words. Being Giancarlo's mom brought me more joy than I ever imagined and taught me the true meaning of empathy and compassion. Giancarlo had a special way of turning the tiniest little things in life into something big and magical. He had eyes as big and deep as the moon and a heart of gold to match. His smile and presence lit up a room, and his laugh was infectious. He could cook like nobody's business and planned to attend culinary school to be a chef. I have accepted that the pain of losing him will be a part of me for the rest of my life. From this pain, I created Fentanyl United Crises Coalition in his honor because I know that Giancarlo was meant to leave a mark in this world and he wanted others to understand the importance of eliminating the stigma associated with substance use disorder. I want to do for others what I was unable to do for him, which was to protect him against the evils of synthetic fentanyl. for every life saved because of FUCC, he is to thank. I love you Giancarlo and will miss you every day until we meet again.
